THE MISSING LINK IN TREATMENT:
BUILDING A SOLID FOUNDATION OF RECOVERY
DURING THE CRITICAL FIRST YEAR
The relapse rate of alcoholics & addicts is astoundingly
high. Evidence indicates that the majority of alcoholics
and addicts will relapse within 90 days of leaving a
rehab or being exposed to a 12 step program.
The principal reason that so many newly clean and sober
people relapse is lack of ongoing personal support and
guidance from qualified people during the critical first
year of recovery.
Simply telling someone to “go to meetings and get a
Sponsor” is not enough. The newcomer alcoholic and
addict can benefit greatly from, and enhance their
recovery with, the guidance and supervision of an
experienced, seasoned professional who has overcome
a history of relapse themselves.
We have designed a support program of recovery based
proven techniques that minimize, if not eliminate the
possibility of relapse for the newcomer. But first, let's take
a brief look at how a relapse begins.

THE SHORT, DEFINITIVE ANSWER:
S-E-L-F.
There are multiple elaborate theories as to what causes
a relapse. We believe these factors contribute greatly to
a relapse:
1. Lack of a proper guidance/supervision in the early
months of recovery by qualified recovered individuals.
2. Failure to make basic simple lifestyle changes.
3. Egocentricity, i.e. self-centeredness to the extreme.
4. Core instincts on rampage and resultant chronic
harmful conduct.
5. Overwhelming guilt and self loathing.
6. Self justification/rationalization/denial i.e. pathologically
lying to ourselves and others.
7. Gradual withdrawal from friends, family and society
ITEMS 1-7 INEVITABLY LEAD TO ITEM 8:
8. Irrepressible cravings and uncontrollable consumption
of alcohol and/or drugs.
Once we take any alcohol or mind altering drugs into our
system, we do not have a chance on becoming only
mildly "buzzed." Those days are gone forever. Instead we
drink and drug to oblivion. Why? To hide from the layers
of feelings of self loathing, guilt, fear, and anger which
have been building for years.
Cutting through all the confusing, misleading, and often
absurd analysis that some “experts” have presented
through the years, the biggest cause of relapse among
alcoholics and addicts is: SELF.
Therefore, we believe that the solution to the basic
causes of relapse is getting the alcoholic and addict out
of themselves. Click the Recovery Management tab to
